I would say it's a possible Red Terror and Flowerhorn hybrid from how the body shape and flowerline look. The flowerspot on the tail is what makes me think it has some Red Terror in it, mainly due to the placement of the spot. Red Terrors have their tail spot located higher up from the middle of the tail unlike their look alikes, the Mayan cichlids, which have a larger tail spot located more towards the middle of the tailfin.
Man!! Thanks for the informative feed back! I appreciate that... You're right I was looking at flower horn patterns and it does resemble a FH. This fish was given to me... It was too aggressive for my buddies tank and he didn't have a clue what it was.. Thank you for the information brother! Im kinda stoked now... Not your average everyday fish you see in a store! As for my reasoning for the FH part is just due to it having a defined flowerline and it's body shape is that of a Trimac cichlid, one of the bases of FH's, along with the slightly red chest it has.
As for Red Devil, it's kind of close. Red Devil's and Red Terrors do come from the same family of fish and have very similar colors and patterns in the wild. The only thing is is that Red Devil's don't have the same tail spot the Red Terrors do.
Honestly tho it is a very nice looking hybrid. Would love to see how it turns out once fully grown.
Yeah Red Terrors and FH's are both extremely mean fish so put the 2 together and I could only imagine the aggression level lol. Just sucks that it didn't end up with more of the color genes from the Festae part of it. Ofcourse if it's male that could also explain why it doesn't have the female coloration from the Festae part of it. Here's a pic to show what I mean by the gender difference when it comes to Festae. The male is the one outside of the pot while the female is inside it. But as you can see there is a major color difference between males and females when it comes to Festae. Personally I love how they look but I much prefer the females bright red compaired to the males more mellow yellow.Man!! Thanks for the informative feed back! I appreciate that... Normally I'd agree with ya but that tail spot it has is a trait I normally see with Amphilophus Festae and generally nothing else that I know of has that tail spot placement. Granted I'm no expert when it comes to the Amphilophus genus but as far as I know the Festae is the only one with a tail spot placed towards the top of its tailfin. Well unless it's part Mesoheros Festae which is honestly almost identical to the Amphilophus Festae.Could certainly have some amphilophus in it. Looks like a lowgrade flowerhorn or just a random hybrid CA cichlid. Wouldn't say it's rare by any means, but if you like the fish and it's happy with you, that's what matters!

As for my guess on what kind of FH they used for this hybrid I would say from the coloration it's probably a ZZ Red dragon that they used. Here's a pic of what my red dragon (Jr.) used to look like when I still had him.

Yeah that's definitely allot of Amphilophus traits showing in that pic. Seems like it grew out a lil kok from when it was placed into a tank by itself. That and it got a taller body style.Heres another shot... The black patterns stand out a lot more here... He was in quarantine with a green terror they were jostling around a bit ..
