So i went to a "Scales and tales" (looking for a reptile for brother) and i was looking at the fish they had. Here was this gorgeous fish in a tank with a Dwarf caiman. So i decided to take it home.
i believe this fish is a female Nimbochromis livingstonii .. it does not have the pattern of a venustus or the face.. and only the males of this species have blue face and other gorgeous colors of gold mixed in.. they are all born with this giraffe pattern and the females stay this way for life..i think the male Nimbochromis livingstonii is less colorful then the N venustus male... here is my male N.Venustus.. i love all the species in the Nimbochromis family.. the N.Livingstoni and N.venustus get to be about 7+ inches..my older male is about 8 inches now.
