I can assure you that it is no Fuscotaeniatus, I have momentarily like 300 swimming around in my aquariums. The photo posted is a Tyrannochromis species

Fusco - check the juvie photo, same pattern underneath the emerging colour

Tyranochromis Macrostoma - definitely not, macrostoma has a solid black belly and cream half top as juvie

Tyranochromis Nigriventer - maybe, from the picture it still looks like a fusco. Can I get more pictures of the fish please.

I don't believe it is an ordinary Macrostoma or Nigriventer either.

Some time ago I saw what a shop labeled as a Macrostoma Mbenji swimming around and it looked a lot like this one. But we will need clearer pictures to be sure.

Lately I have seen a lot of Tyrannochromis imports from different locations in the lake and they differ a lot. In color and shape as well.

Not all Macrostoma's swim continuesly around with a black belly. Especially not the juveniles. If you have juveniles of the Maculiceps, Macrostoma and Nigriventer and they get mixed in a tank you will have to wait a long time to pick these apart again

wow first time any of my threads has had this much attention.
i will try and get a pic of him soon.
what should i expect with either of those types of fish?

What do you mean, their temperament?

The Nimbochromis Fusco is a really aggresive fish especially while mating.

The tyrannochromis as well but in my experience are less aggressive. They should be kept in a tanksize of miminum ~2,5 meters

Most of the Tyranochromis will keep the black underbelly for a long time... even as young adults (10").

x2 on the tank size. All open water haplochromines are piscivorous and pretty much if it fits in their mouth they will eat it.

Still waiting for more pictures.

+1 for Nimbochromis fuscotaeniatus

Look at the juvenile markings
NIMBOCHROMIS%20FUSCOTAENIATUS.jpg

Tyrannochromis macrostoma. That is not a nimbochromis. Nimbochromis at that size do not have "dark brown" markings rather white and brown markings.

It appears to be a Tyrannochromis macrostoma based on his jaw from what I can see. It would not be a maculiceps b/c they show a yellow underbody as soon as 1.5"..

The color pattern and the OVERALL color of the fish with physical landmarks say to me that it is a Tyrannochromis macrostoma

let me see if i can get some pics now.
2 and half meters? how big will he grow? i got a 5ft tank which i was guna put him and the venustus in with my plec and bichir and catfish.
