I hope so...he is stalking some shrimp right now:headbang2

you should be fine with a retic that size and it wont be harder to take care of than any other ray

the only reason people normally say they are harder to care for is they are normally imported at a much smaller size than other rays

i dont mean to derail the thread but redtail you sound like you can get hold of some really good stuff as you have such a good relationship with your LFS
if you let us know what you can get hold of that would be great

retics are great rays and the price was good to for one that size

how hardy are they? I had one before but it died from heater burn because my F***ing LFS wouldn't get a heater guard in. But i bought a heater guard so it should be fine now.

Thats a nice big retic you have there, and for a good price too.

It is on the skinny side though so you really need to fatten him up and make sure he gets his fair share of food.

I would skip the black worms because he isn't by himself and they are quite expensive and all the other fish will eat them as well. Plus you would probably have to feed him about a pound a day.

So the best thing to fatten your rays up would be to try and get him on earthworms cause they are a great way to fatten them up. You could also try feeding him smelt and shrimp and see if he will take that and just feed him that.

But for now, basically just keep feeding him ghost shrimp and whatever else he will eat till he gains some weight, then you will be able to get it on the foods you want.

Jeff is telling you porkies. The stingray posted here is a reticulata, and it's one of the most common, not the rarest. A motoro is also one of the most common, and there is no such thing as a montoro retic.

Zoo - yes what T1 said, give it what it wants to eat until it's nice and full and settled in, then start trying it on other foods, don't starve it too long though, rays have high metabolism.

it was a hard to get or one of the two.

I have already give it small shrimp but it just look at it then looks away. so i give what it wants.

so far it just perfere frozen silversides.
