Its not a rectis.

1. It dosent have the right shape. The snout is not pointy enough.

2. It has the tiger stripes on the tale. Normal in orb´s.

3. It has the typical rings of orbs.

4. Dont let the tail fool you. Its long do to the young age.

We have nothing to use for size reference. If this fish was a 4" pup I would say you could be right, on the other hand if it was a larger ray say 8" it looks like a large reticulatus to me. Retics have a widely varied pattern, Ive even seen them with spots! The only thing that is throwing me is the white fleshy flanges on the flanks of the tail before the barb...this ray or at least in this pic, it isnt noticable.

its most likely an orbignyi/humerosa from Guyana. If I had to guess from the picture I would bet on Orbignyi. Definately not what we know as reticulata in the hobby.

I have seen them with spots too. ;)

But thats just a normal orb from peru. Like eveyone after me have said. ;)

"Bone-rings" + tiger stripes on the tail = orb.

I suck at ID'ing rays it must be an Orbignyi based on the awesome photo provided ;) I should of taken it under a microscope..

It's funny that 'some' people only jump on ID threads when they get a chance to prove 'some' other people wrong..

white rim around the disc, looks like a pointy little spot on the snout, elongated tail, recessed juvenile pattern.. mmmm.. yeah its an Orb.. those defining tiger stripes in the quality pix foiled my planz!! oh snapz!
