You may drop the act as you are not expert on most subjects on natives. This is clearly a bluegill x pumpkinseed, a common hybrid in many waters. If there is a redbreast in the fish, the ears should be longer, the mouth should be larger and the breast should be redder. But clearly there isn't a single trait that screams redbreast in the hybrid.

Here is the email that I sent years ago to get information on this...

Hi BJ,

Our endangered species regulations prohibit the importing/purchasing of these species (Title 58 PA Code, Chapter 75 Endangered Species -http://www.pacode.com/secure/data/058/chapter75/chap75toc.html). I suspect that the online retailers may have a disclaimer saying you should check with your state regarding the legality of purchasing certain fish.

Comments: Hello. I read on your website that Pennsylvania native fish may be legally kept in an aquarium as long as the fish are legally caught, meaning in compliance with season, size, and creel limits and licensing
requirements, they may be kept in an aquarium. I have been thinking
about starting a native aquarium and I am wondering about endangered and candidate species. I know that it would be illegal to keep these fish out of our waters, even if they are caught in a legal manner. My question is, can these species (endangered/candidate) be kept legally in an aquarium if they are purchased from an authorized retailer (aka. fish farm?). I ask because I am interested in keeping longear sunfish in my aquarium and they are an endangered species. There are online retailers that I can buy these fish from, but I would like to know that I can legally keep them at home if they are purchased.

Thanks,

BJ

Oh so I can't keep any of the endangereds even if I bought them online. Well that's to bad, so much for keeping longears or warmouths :(
