ID this synspilum please

hi all

any expert on syns? mine is about 35cms... looking on the net i found so many different looks, colour etc,etc. some says theirs is a true syns, other says it's a hybrid.

can anyone help me id mine... is it male or female? wheter it's a true syns or hybrid..
and what food is best to bring out the red colour in the head area.

I agree on the bifas ID. If it is a bifas/syns hybrid it is more bifas than syns...

I still say Synspillum. Look at the yellow/gold on the face.
 
hey, i've seen my syns has redder head before, but most of the time it's pale like those pics... how do you keep the red to be more prominent? what's the best food to give red colouration?
 
are you feeding your syns properly? all syns are capable of having a red head if fed what they should be fed, Synspilum are herbivores! if you want your syn to have the better color, feed it veggies!

i will try to give him peas. but should i peel the skin or just leave it ? normally i give him hikari cichlid gold pellets as staple.. is this good? the hikari works well on my RD and FH.

Thought Synspilum supposed to have red face/head? And besides the fish in question has too much black and no red head(maybe stressed), Synspilums are not called Redhead cichlids for no reasons.
