  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I got burtoni, he has as different shape to him so I'm inclined to say no thought the markings and color are really close.

Good observation, the body shape is a little suspect....the mystery continues?

^^^^ Good looking fish, Pantera. :)

Thank you, all my fish are very special to me...even the ugly ones?

Here's a few more shots of my males, some of when I first got them:

and last but not least, probably the best shot I ever took, this guy is "speedy", he never slows down, he is the class clown of the tank:

wow...those are some really nice fish you have.

The burtoni's I have are probably my favorite fish, not the most colorful but so fun to watch, especially the guy I have in my 75g long! He's just a nut job, always has, always will be! He use to make a monkey out of the dom Vic I had in the "all Vic" 125g until one day, that sp.44 caught up with his little butt...tore him up pretty bad and spent a month in the QT tank licking his wounds. He now lives with the Tang tank, and he messes with everyone in there too!

went back to where i got it and they're labeled Astatotilapia calliptera....i guess hes too young to show color yet

I keep one calli, he's a young male too but he doesn't look anything like yours. I will take a picture of him and post it here so you can compare for yourself.

The mystery continues.....

Ok, here's a couple of quick shots of my calli, like I said, he's no beauty and the absolute bottom of the pecking order in the tank. The fish is from excellent stock and I might transplant him into one of my 40's to see what he really looks like when he is not constantly chased and abused.
