Ideal breeding setup...

Yes I will keep them in a 10g for a few months and once I buy a 20g Long they will go there.

It would be worth you time to make or build ceramic/slate breeding caves.

I'm sure you can use wood from outside but there are some wood that are toxic to fish. I would consider you boiling the wood in really really hot water a few times before putting it in the tank. I think you should try throwing in cheaper fish like guppies in the tank to try it out first. Make sure you clean the rocks really good with soap (some people suggest blech but i wouldnt use it) boil the rocks in really really hot water. I'm sure you can have fake plants in with the plecos. One thing with the sand I suggest you not use it. I have black sand in with my zebra plecos man it's a pain to clean!! Also it gets suck up in your filter I perfer you use rocks.

In that case make sure you have enough fileration
I'll have 20 times turnover, then that same filter is going to the 20L where I'll have 10.

I'm going with a bare bottom tank, no plants, just lots or driftwood and a bit of rock. Thanks on the cleaning info

Cool.

I'm confused on the wood...where I live there is a lot of pine, but I've read that it isn't good, and there is also quite a bit of cotton wood and there is wood that I can grab from the river. There are no oak trees, and there are apple trees all over, in people's yards, but no one saves bits and pieces of them. I was thinking of going in a forest and look around for some wood in the river or just around, and I would make sure its really dead. What's my best option?
