Personally I wouldn't do a armatus in a 180 unless I was planning on putting him in something much bigger later on.

I'm one of few that think longer is better then wider.

I would love to see a armatus in a tank that's 12'x3'x3' they will get over 2' within 3 years if givin the right environment from what i read. And as skittish as they are I would rather give them 12' to run then 4' to turn around in.

I just feel that if the fish can go 12' one or two things will happen. It will either get far enough away and slow down. or it will get enough speed to make it a quick death.

armatus r not skittish. where u hear that?

I use the word skittish from the fact the quite a few people have lost them from them bashing themselves against the glass.

Might be bad word usage but it's the best I came up with lol

have fun picking them off the ground

armatus need a minimum of 8x3x3 tank, VATF need about the same or larger due to their skittishness
What does this have too do with african pikes buddy?

Btw, I'd make sure both sides are covered as they are excellent at jumping out. Even covered, you're going to need to make sure is pretty secure.

i think he means one side will have alot of swimming space and the other will have cover such as plants or other decor....
not one side with no lid.
