Ideal tank size PBass??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
keep in mind that even the smallest peacock bass grow to about 20 inches at adulthood. And the most common ones you find in the LFS's are not the smaller varieties, Ocellaris, Monoculous, and Temensis are the ones found most often and they ALL get to well over 2 ft long as adults.

My oldest Pbass, 1 c. ocellaris and 2 c. temensis are just over a year old and over 10 inches.. i've got them in a 150 gal and they seem kinda crowded to me..

we're building a stand for our 240 gal that is in the garage.. then everybody will have more swimming room.. at least till we build the BIG tank..

wow what about a 300 gallon? Would it support all of them in that size of a tank?

It would be good for any pbass except a temensis

Hey guys, this is my first post on here. I just wanted
to get your opinions on the tank size for PBass. Right now I have 2 Pbass and a silver aro in a 20 gal. tank, but I'm getting a 60 gal. tank today to transfer them in. How many more PBass can I put in a 60 gal. tank not including the 2 I already have? They're about 2-3 inches long. Appreciate it guys.

Oh boy....you are in some trouble man. First of all, to house those 2 pbass, you should get atleast a 180 gallon tank, and with an arowana, you need atleast 220 gallons.

you're sure the arowana didn't jump? none of the 3 pbass that are in with my arowana have ever shown that they are interested in her as food.

both of the Tems have had their faces slapped when they tried to pick on her.. and they've learned from their mistakes, they don't get in her way.

Since the original question was "ideal" tank size, I'd say something in the 10' X 20' range would be more ideal. Since most of us do not have the space nor the resources to make this happen, figure a 240 as minimum.

Yore going to need a lot more room for those monsters.

positive it didn't jump the pbass were 12" and the aro was 8"-9"
one pbass looked normal and the other looked like it had a baseball in it's stomach!!
