Ideal tank temperature for jaguar cichlids -& recovering female pic.

ok we will agree to disagree, im sure if the op ran an id thread there would be an overwhelming majority saying hybrid or loisellei. That said its highly unlikely jeff would get it wrong...
is it f0/wild caught and have you had it from very small as it could easily have got mixed up then? i have also kept many jags over the years and have never seen one with that body shape and colouring.

Interesting. Her body type was markedly different from an lfs female I had for a few days, [
You can see pix of her in my earliest Albums: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/album.php?albumid=7150]
so perhaps the wc's can look a bit different. These photos show her (lfs one) markings much darker than they actual were in person - I did that by over-exposing bit.

I got her at 9" like 7 weeks ago.
They were part of his wc imported stocks, so I cant imagine he had them very long either. I say this bc the size in his inventory catalog matched the size of the fish I received, exactly.

vid of my wild caught at water change time, she hates the tube, looks similar but not the same but could be a dif variant,

hmmm? in those pics its definitely a jag? maybe it died somehow and your missus replaced it with another parachromis fast lol... maybe its just the shot you posted here?

looks like a different fish dont she!-)

looks like its fading to a gold/leustic jag? i heard jeff is running a breeding project atm to get some leustic jags on sale!? do they fade from a normal jag guessing not but would be cool?

Def is not a pure jag in my opinion. Loiselli all day. Unless most of the ones at lfs are inbred and have a completely different look from the WC ones. Which is possible.

Doesn't look like my female jag. I actually like yours better...wanna trade!?:D

I think you should keep your tank temperature 78 to 80 do water changes couple times a week 50% & and, possibly add some salt 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons for healing....
I believe the fish is managuense... Although looks a little different than the average but still one.... The wild caught ones just look different at times.. Granted that fish is a little more angular built with sharper clear looking fins.... The op should post more shots of that fish or post a video of that fish... I seen his video of the pair and if its the same fish it looks like a managuense there...
My female managuense looks different prior to spawning, during fry tending and post Fry care.. on mine and on pics I've seen of other female managuense they will loose its black pattern under the horizontal botch pattern when caring for fry.... in the comparison photos of the managuense and loisellei l see the similarities of both species but it still looks more like the managuense to me ...you could see the remnants of the vertical bars on both the managuense picture but not on the picture of the male loisellei....
I have pictures of my female that it could pass for another parachromis sp... They all can look very similar... Food for thought... loisellei we're not even identified until 1989... In books published in the late eighty's and early ninety's you would see pictures of loisellei identified as Friedrichstali or motoguense... Who says science discover discovered all the parachromis?...I think there was talk of a naturally occurring hybrid back around 2007..... Maybe we got a new variant here we can call it parachromis manguensis Winstoni.....:)

This one was' freshwater predators' wild-caught female managuense.... Hope he doesn't mind me using this picture.... doesn't look like the typical lfs female managuense.......
