Day 6 update - learned a valuable lesson in mixing centrals and SA’s... Two of the firemouth were very aggressive. As I continued looking into their aggression I came upon another post talking about how even “tame” centrals are still pretty aggressive on the SA scale. I had not seen that before and I should have made this connection before! Lol. They had paired up against the 3rd and were claiming 1/3 of the tank each against any comers and really hounding the SD’s. I took them back to the LFS before any casualties or further increase in stress and grabbed two more tiger SD’s to get the shoal to 6 as that was the number I kept seeing that made them more comfortable.
Hoping that the 3rd FM will keep the calmer demeanor it has displayed thus far but will keep an eye on it. It seems that things are significantly calmer overall now. It was a bummer to return the other two but they were clearly male and clearly not taking any junk.
The Oscar seems to be even less interested in the newcomers as days go by, very encouraged by that.
