yes. u want hardy fish and I can only justify those dims as most fish outgrow it except community stuff. u want cheap and hardy so u cant have a reef, but if u strayed a bit out of that hardy box u could do discus. if u really don't want those then get some geos or crencichla, and make sure u pick a smaller species eight inches max. or u could do goldfish. have fun.

This thread is going in circles. Sorry i forgot the 40" length. Go with what you can find. Go red wolf or cichlid that grows under 8". It doesn't really matter what we tell you if you can't find it

I wouldn't go with goldfish as they can reach 12"+. Perhaps some of the smaller, fancy goldfish but not the common ones. Crenicichla are a good idea though. They are full of character and are fascinating to watch.
Why would that be exactly? there are plenty of Crenicichla that stay below 8" and would be fine for this tank. Please do some research before firing out pointless, unhelpful insults.
