id go discus or angels with cardinal tetras planted but thats expensive. try getting some kind of south american cichlid like JDs or texas or something to that effect. cons work to

you cant really do a GOOD planted discus tank with a 55g... you'd need at least a 125.... for a GOOD one.. with a sump preferably
