Ideas for Catfish pond

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The plastic on my pond is kinda thick like 1/4" thick, and there are no seems so it must be vaccum molded! It is inside also so no UV damage. i think it should last a while and if you are not totally comfortable then put a liner in it, but mine works fine! Here some pics for ya! If you see from one of the pics you can see the side view of your catfish just fine! i haven't had a problem yet. I feed the biggest one first, he's about 28" right now, and then feed the other ones! If you see though catfish look beautiful from above! Especially a TSN. Mine is 350gal., and I don't think i need to upgrade until the big one reaches more than 4', even then since it is round instead of squaure he'll have no problems turning around, and as for swimming space, well I solved that by putting my filter intakes sideways and letting the water whirlpool in a circle. when they do decide to swim they swim against the current in a big circle for hours(kinda like nascar). So don't worry so much and go to your nearest farm supply store and ask to look at their cattle troughs. Mine had sizes up to 12' dia, but only the 6' or 4' dia would fit through my doorway! They were all 2' tall.

tnx, very easy too. Good luck guys!

you can go to a 300g acrylic tank for the same money as a 300g pond so definitly go with the tank it is sooo much less maintenance. now at 1000g or more a pond is way cheaper
i want to know where you can get a 300 acrylic for the pirce of setting up a pond i have $300 in my 750 gallon pond and i bet that ya cant get a 300 for even that cheap....

i got one 4x12ft. indoor pond i suggest of putting 2x4's two feet apart from each other so the pond/tank don't ever boldge outwards. first time i put mine in i forgot to put the 2x4's to rebrace the bottom i was too tired and feeling lazzy after from putting in my 100 pound rubber liner in. That was like wrestleing a huge bull in. the pond wall buge out a half a foot!

But what i want to know is any one has any suggestion of a water paint selant to help me to seal my wood to make it water proof and non toxic, any suggestions please help!

Thinking of building an indoor pond for a shovelnose cat that is getting to big for the 185 Gallon tank. Any suggestions?
I am thinking about 350 to 450 Gallons. Maybe 2' deep.

you tried to get the cutting the glass in half yet?? it might be cheaper because of the weight...

Building a indoor pool is easy but I would go to the added work of building a large aquarium.Heating a large open pond is expensive , can cause mold problems, and in a aquarium you can enjoy seeing your cat from the side.I would leave open indoor ponds to fish that can be kept at room temperature.

TSN's cant be kept at room temp? isnt room temp from 76-80 deg. usually? well thats what my house is always set at and i have heaters but they never come on.

I bought a performed one. I haven’t got any pics of it in will try and get some in a few days time its in just no water in there yet. Just running it like a pond, got a large pond filter and pond pump on it I hope it works well:D
