Sorry bud...I thought that was still kinda on topic...my bad. I didn't realize you are in the UK...I have no idea about the rules and regs then lol. I would defanetly look into it tho with that many tanks...

Another thing I was thinking about is floor drains...but since its in a detached garage...maybe it doesnt mater if water floods the place if a tank brakes/leaks for any reason.

Another thought is the concrete flooring under all the tanks...make sure it can hold that much weight with all that water.

no probs dude i didnt realise u werent in the uk lol didnt mean to offend you if i did btw.

thats why i was a little confused by some of the stuff you guys were coming out with, not ta worry though matey it will all work out in the end.

i have lots of fresh thoughts thanks to you guys but im sure there will be more input as the days go on ;)

No worries here...I wasn't offended.

I have no idea if they have the transfer switches over there....its pretty much just a device that when it sees the main power coming into the house is off...it safely switches over to a auto start generator. That way you dont have to be at home...and if the power goes off...the generator will power the house. Or you can have this setup only for your fish room...or just certain outlets in your fish room so your generator and transfer switch can be smaller.

Not a problem :headbang2

I'll let you know if I think of more I didnt already see on here. You are doing exactly what I want to do when I have a house with a room I can have for just my fish. Big walk around tank or pond in the middle with wall to wall tanks.

One thing I really do want is like a above ground pond but have the walls about 5' tall. That way I could snorkle/dive with the fish and feed them :WHOA::screwy: :naughty:

good luck

yyay i found it and yeah we have them, its even got a little diagram so my thick brain can take it all in  http://www.justgenerators.co.uk/pages/powertransfer.htm

might be a bit costly but well worth the hastle

Bingo! Just make sure the generator you get will auto start with the setup. And I dont know your rules and regs but I would get one that uses natural gas that piped to the house anyway so you dont have to worry about "is your gas tank full or empty or running out"

Just a heads up...that link is for a MANUAL transfer...meaning you have to go flip a switch if the power goes out. There is also (at least here) a AUTOMATIC transfer switch that does it on its own.

It will be pricey...but from the sounds of it...you will have quite a bit of $ in fish to keep alive. I live in a Huricane prone area...so I worry about loosing power a lot....and if its bad enough you wont be able to find gas at the gas stations.

Ok guys, the garage wasnt exactly what i expected, it does have its own water supply and its own electrical sockets so thats a bonus.

The plan now is to build an 8x5x4 pond for the cats i have and keep the 8x2x2 glass tank along side it i also have a 4x1x1 grow out tank underneath the 8x2x2.

I will be starting the pond in a few weeks time so will get lots of pics and get them posted asap.

Oh another thing i thought about was to make 1 side of the pond a devider just incase i wanted to extend it to make it 16x5x4, is this possible to do? if so how?
