22°C might be a bit high, considering he should go up to 23-24°C at the peak of summer, before going back down to 14-18°C during winter. I don't know where you live, but in most places, best is to not heat the tank.
I live in Scotland. I stopped using a heater about a week ago and it's not went any lower than 22 degrees. I thinks it's because I'm in a very small room with fish tanks so it's always hot and if I open my window it's freezing so I feel that might be too cold.

You may have to open the window during winder if your heater keeps you at 22°C whilst temperatures in Scotland I assume are around the 10°C at the present time or at least they are here in Belgium. :)

My Aurantis were at room temp which was around 17.5°C and they were pretty happy, I moved them to my bedroom, which obviously has a warmer temp, and they didn't quite like that, and being my bedroom, I needed the warmth. They really do need a seasonal change of temperatures to thrive, even if you don't reach the bottom ends of temps they would get in their natural environment (sometimes 10-12°C in cold nights).

It's in my bedroom aswell and my room temp is quite high. I've actually had good weather for scotlands standards the last week, it's been about 13 degrees so that might have something to do with it. I would just be worried that if I open my window at night the temp would get far too low but I'll give it a go tonight.

Well, spring is starting, so temps are supposed to climb, trying to get to 18-20 would probably be best if you want to be able to warm it up throughout summer though.

Channas are amazing, but sub-trops can be a bit tricky depending on seasons and where you live. ;)

I'll try my best I've got the window open the now to see if the temp drops then I'll keep it at 22 during the summer. I'm surprised how well he eats. he eats flakes, pellets, frozen and he loves freeze dried shrimp. I get a bit worried about the freeze dried shrimp though because it's really hard and their quite large pieces but he just swallows it whole. I always worry incase he chokes or something lol.

They'll eat pretty much anything, but you'll be amazing to see them dance and wiggle if you dangle a worm in front of the window... They love their meal worms. ;)

It's good to know they like mealworms can they eat insects like crickets aswell? They sell them cheap at petstores. I've fed him earthworms from the garden that's he's eaten from my hand didn't try wiggling it in front of the glass though will have to try that out

Thanks for the advice

So it's not a bleheri? That's annoying. Is there anything different about then I should be aware of? I've got the snakehead at 22 degrees celsius. It's got no tankmates, I wanted bottomfeeders but soon realised it doesent need them lol.Can you sex the it yet? Been wondering what it is.

No the care is essentially the same for gachua, they are more tolerant of warmer temps then bleheri but cooler is bettet
