Probably, most of the time they are hardy. Mabye it's another time where angels aren't as hardy no longer???

Well thats good news i've been wanting discus for a while, and hearing they are as hardy as angels makes me feel better since I have angels spawning :D

I think captive angels go through cycles. Sometimes the ones on the market are too inbreed and there immune systems are weak. Later the breeders have crossed enough wild genes back into the captive gene pool that angels are almost bullet proof.

It's not altum. I owned one of these and they will grow up beautiful. That's a cross between pearlscale silver and peruvian(if you see iridescent green/blue and grow bigger than regular angel). You got a beauty there. I wish I could find more.
Is the green/blue irridescence only found in the Peruvian Angels?
I have a 'koi' angel that looks different than other kois I have seen. It has the irridescence you speak of in it's fins, and behind it's gills in some places. Could it be a hybrid, or are the colors of Koi Angels more defined in some specimens?

*not hijacking thread*

....

*really*

:D

Well it could be more closley related to wild angels than most kois. That is, the breeders may have crossed a koi to a wild?

instead of starting a new thread, can anyone help me id this angel? he's white with silver patches and getting more and more of a blue hue as he matures. he's my favorite fish at this moment as he can hold his own against convicts, texas and bloodparrots. am growing out some german blues who can hopefully later keep him company.
