With larger cichlids, I've had luck adding fish that are too big to be eaten but small enough not to be seen as a threat. I agree with the above that mollies and swordtails may be worth a try. With plenty of hiding places to retest to, I've also done well adding a female convict to the tanks of larger cichlids.

I think you're right. The aggression does seem to be towards fish that are 4.5" or more. 👍
