i get emails and phone calls on a daily basis from people in the states wanting me to ship them fish... almost all the inquires from the states are for the highest grade fish. A lot of people from Houston calling too, huge viet population there and dragonfish is huge in Vietnam so go figure... I'd be a millionaire if i could sell to them.

I must have missed the mass posts about people wanting to buy show grade aros in the US. I did read a lot of posts about people wanting to buy aros though. Just like everywhere else, the RTG's, Greens, G2 reds etc. will sell like mad, and there will be a few people to buy the high grade stuff. I don't think anyone was claiming that the US would consume all the high grade fish or even that the US would buy more high grade fish than anywhere else.

i never thought that us could buy more high end aro then asian countries.

wouldnt pay 2k, you can get better looking ones for 900$

I agree with that, plus if they were legal we would probably have people captive breeding them here thus making them cheaper. But if it came down to it and I saw a truly awesome aro and I had the cash then I would pay 2K if that was the absolutely only way to get them (honestly when i first got into monster fish I thought those aro's were over 20K, so 2K is much cheaper.)

It kind of reminds me of Flowerhorns how they are technically worth so much, but there are other ways to buy them (juvies, lower grades, friend who breeds them). Granted Flowerhorns are a little different than aros, but sometimes you don't know exactly how either will grow up to look like.

thats my point the main people willing to pay that kind of money on a fish are from asian background

if you didnt count people from asian background their are probably only about 100 people hear in the UK willing to buy a high grade aro

i know the US is a much bigger place

to be honest if they were leagle in the US the price would probably be more like $3k+ for the 1st few years as it would put a big drain on the market

There are alot of people in the states with asian backgroung/ethnicity, and alot of people on this forum in the states with asian ethnicity. But "Wow" factor might even be a bigger seller than culture.

I almost spent that much for my Dog, $1800, but on a fish I don't think so, even if is an Asian Aro. Believe me I love Aros. Right now my limit on a signle fish is $75. I don't think I would spend more than $500 for an Asian Aro if I were to buy one.

the resale value of say a RTG is not that good only breeders want large adult RTG and their are not many breeders hear in the UK

so when people are moving up a grade in aro their is a loss to be made mainly because people want to buy small and grow them on

i see RTG for sale in shops for $1200 hear in the UK but if you were to sell that fish at a later date you will be lucky to get $800

take dixon sweeeeeeet RTG its 20inch and hes only looking for $800 and it didnt sell that fast
their was also a RTG for sale with drop eye 12inch for $400

not many people will spend $2k+ on a aro with drop eye

of course their is a market thousand of greens and RTG would be sold if not millions

but how many would buy the higher end fish

i see it all the time when anyone posts pics of asian aros IF ONLY THEY WERE LEAGLE IN THE US

im just intrested to know if they were leagle how many members would rush out and spend $2k+ on a fish
I think if it gets legal the price might get a little lower cause right now illegally you can get that fish for $2.5+
