I'm in cape may nj, and we're in the middle of a storm that, as far as Wong is concerned, is almost as bad as sandy. While I didn't take any property damage during sandy, I took financial and emotional damage when all 7 if my tanks went down for 18 hours. Now I'm watching the news and I see the news crew is a half mile down the road. This cannot be good.

good luck ... that has got to be scary ...power /water outages +fishkeeping = bad stuff for fishkeepers:(

Keeping my fingers crossed for you, Man!!

Keep us posted, please!

get blankets and battery air pumps, wrap the tanks to help insulate, take bio media out of filters and put it in the tank and stick an airpump under it and u should be ok. only time i lost a fish to power loss was after three days with no power and it was a ray i literally acquired hours before power went out.

We bought a generator and set it up so that we could turn off power at our box and plug the generator into one our 220 sockets when the power is it out. I wouldn't try running a ton of stuff on it, but it keeps my fridge and tanks going. Worst case scenario I have to go to the gas station a few blocks away during the storm.

Wouldn't the fridge stay at a good temperature if you just kept it shut as much as you can and use the generator on airpumps for your tank???

buy another small one for your fish ?

Yeah...Might not be able to run out and get one now but if you do not intend to relocate from that area then you should invest in one for your tanks..Who is Wong?
