that buttiforki (spelling) is huge :WHOA: :WHOA:

great setup man
Actually the spelling is Buttikoferi. I have had the big Buttikoferi Cichlid 8 years; he had cleaned out everything in his prior keeper's tank and reportedly would kill his own kind as well. Next year another orphan came my way and I took a chance putting them together. They have been friends ever since and swim together frequently.

Is New Jersey someplace like Siberia? In Seattle the average low winter temperature is in the mid 30 degrees Fahrenheit. The worst night for my 2400 gallon outdoor aquarium was 15 degrees Fahrenheit with a 10 - 15 mile per hour wind. 1,000 watts would not hold the 77 degrees Fahrenheit the fish have become accustomed to so I have since added another 1,000 watts of thermostatically controlled heaters just to be on the safe side. John at http://www.jehmco.com has everything you need for heaters and controllers and all things fishy. The insulation used is a big factor, 2" foam sheets all around, double that would be better. The nice thing is that during June, July and August I don’t need any heat at all, the submergible pumps, the overhead lights and the UV filter put out enough heat; the sun is also a big factor. Get going soon this is the year of the monster fish aquarium.

Incredible tank. Props...

cold days in the winter in jersey are in the teens with wind chills sometimes below zero
