Then we can have cheaper dats, and I can finnaly get some... Well, I could get some now but US bred dats would be the shibby.

This is the problem with noobs.

If a fish is bred to such an extent that it is cheap as chips, the fish is not seen as a rare specimen, but more or less as a disposable pet. Just think 40 years ago when some very common cichlids such as angels and oscars were never bred before in home aquaria on a large scale. Thier prices must of been through the roof. As time went on, they bred more often thus reducing costs. At the end of the day, if RTC's were bred so much that even a 6" could cost under 10 bucks, just think of the problems in the future.

Im from Canada where Aros are legal and even though I'm not the hugest Aro fan I have a feeling theyd be really frickin cool to breed, especially if you could do it in an actual tank where you could see inside as opposed to a pond type set up.

a fishes price and popularity don't change the fish and the fact people keep buying cheap fish proves it fish still provide us with there interesting habits and color that isn't changed by the number of people who have then

point is many common fish are still loved and valued but by definition yes there no longer rare

It would be nice if we could get an albino or other color morph for a CL, but since we are going to try something small scale the chances are slim to non of that happening!

We really are leaning towards Pygocentrus caribe at this point.

Paroon Sharks. My lfs sells them for over $1000.

they're not rare, but there's always money to be made in discus. If I had to pick something it would be peacock bass.... or guppies.
