If you could breed and unbreedable...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
paroon sharks for $1000?! Hell they are $35 around me!

Cichla orinosis wouldnt be a bad iadea. They are readily available. Price isnt too high so its not like a small project would satisfy the demand like intermedia or azul would.

We have some huge plastic tubs used for breeding tilapia with everything we need but water and fish, but problem right now is finding a place to put the stuff~!

We really are leaning towards Pygocentrus caribe at this point.

I personally would not breed piranha, especially not caribe.. although there is a market for them you're talking cannibalistic fish, and mininmum money made on them. Piranha isn't a fish that has a widespread liking since they're only compatible with themselves.

I would go with higher end pbass (intermedia, azul, xingu), blue arowana, cong bichirs, bichir bichir, anything else never captive bred with high demand.

In my area anyone who breed RBP make good spare $.

We also figure since Ps are prolific we could afford to loose a few to cannabilisim. We figure the cheapest an importer can get 3" caribe in is $15 a pop as they retail them for around $30 on the cheap side. We could easily sell a 1" fry just months old for $5 and just one batch would yield 100s of fry.

The demand for high dollar cichla, at least locally, just isnt there. The LFS sell RBP all day long at 1" for 15.99 a pop but sit on any cichla for months on end.

Also if one was to succesfully breed say azul the price would drop dramatically as the supply would be much higher then the demand in the U.S. It would cost us $1000s to get enough adult azuls. Just not worth it.

widebars or aros.... frt or rare plecos....

I'm just curious where you're at. I picked up 4 1" RBP's about 5 months ago for $16. I think that Caribe would be cool to do, I haven't seen those around here.

RBP(any piranha really) are cannibalistic, caribe supposedly are when young especially. I was talking more about losing one of the parents but I don't even know if parents can be taken down like the rest of the shoal with no rhyme/reason. Sounds like you've thought about it though. :) GL :)
