If you could cross breed your poly's, which ones? - Hybrid talk

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Since I have uj's for now....would like to see a cross b/w a delhezi and moke.

A few interesting combos here: https://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/threads/curious-about-endl-x-ornate-hybrid.549820/page-2

I want this one, Ansorgii x Bichir Bichir

I would mix Polypterus endlicheri with Polypterus senegalus, i would love a little Polypterus endlicheri that could live in a 55 gallon. Otherwise a giant lapradei with the pattern of a ornate would be awesome.

IMG_7377.JPG Here's my supposed hybrid Endli x Lap. He's darkened up quite a bit. Has some nice body striping and all fins have regrown. Was sold as an unknown and ID'd by the MFK poly clan

Here's a nice ornate x endli hybrid from about 15-20 years ago.

Anyone interested in attempting to create their own hybrids, you can do so just as they do in Asia.
On conditioned adults, inject 1cc of OvaPrim into their caudal bases and within an hour, eggs and milt should be spraying all over the spawning tank. After removing the adults, collect the eggs into hatchers and keep your fingers crossed that a few of the eggs will develop.

One recommendation to anyone trying this, ...use Maroxy 2 in the hatching tank. This is a mild antifungal agent, safe for eggs and scaleless fish, that should keep the fungus down on bad eggs and give any viable eggs a chance at hatching.
