If you can only keep one species...which would it be and why?

Caquetaia Umbriferous or Parachromis Dovii?

I know there are a lot of folks on here that own one or the other and quite a few that own both. Which do you prefer and why?

Does the dovii's personality and glass banging personality win? Or what about the blue majestic trailing fins of an umbee drives the craze?

I have owned both and I am torn!

Ive had both. It is a toss up for me really. My Umbees look amazing colors not matched by the Dovii I have kept. But the Dovii was like a puppy dog very interactive and personable fish. But my latest additions are best of both worlds my Gorilla Blue Umbees awesome color and even better personality at only 6". My vote goes Umbee all the way! And for the record i keep every other kind of parachromis possible. Drew
 
I place umbees at the top of my list hands down. My list goes like this
Blue Umbees
Gorillus Umbees
Festae
Dovii
Jag

I know you didn't ask for a list but theres where I place the Umbee vs Dovii. I am searching for a show piece male dovii to add to my fish room. Both are very beautiful. but from my experience, Umbee have better personality.
 
Depends on which individuals are placed in front of me.

I pick blue freckled monster over Dovii in general,

But if the dovii in front of me got a short snout and nice shape, I'll take the Dovii.. Because Doviis crazy colors one must witness in person to see the bling of their fins and their blues. The long wolve face make them look more scary and vicous tho, hich is a turn off for me.

For me, in general, I pick BFM Umbee because it's got cuter face and more robust built..

Doviis are smart too. Idk about Umbees vs Dovii intelligence
 
I debated this for a long time before deciding on dovii. The more predatory look and teeth in addition to personality of the parents that I witnessed was the clincher for me. I still want a Rio Mag umbee though... It's not really a runaway choice for either one, IMO.
 
I usually don't play this game, but if I had a tank large enough and were only going to keep one of these species ... it would be the umbies.

They are more elegant, like an intelligent James Bond villain in a tailored Italian suit that is still well built enough and in shape to kick your rear end.

Dovii are more like the typical back alley street thug, dragging his knuckles on the ground with his jeans down to his knees with brass knuckles.
