Id get a silver arowana no questions asked...Ive always wanted one but never had a 2ft wide tank to house one...If I had it to do over again I woulda bought a 240G instead of my 150G, impatience is a curse

Silvers are really nice, isn't a180 too small for a full grown one though?

That would look amazing, but not sure about planted tanks, and wouldn't know where to get the exodons

If what you want is a pair go with a pair of large cichlids, like jags or festae

What are they like personality wise?

It is after a couple of years, they would do best in a tank atleast 8ft*30" after they get about 26-28" But it would surely give one quite awhile to upgrade to that buying a nice baby silver tho
