If you want to euthanize a fish, there are many methods, the easiest is clove oil. This should only be used to put them out of their misery.

nevermind, quick google says clove oil needs to be emulsified. also says it is just for making them go to sleep (not the permanent kind)

yes to kill the fish you would need some kind of toxin which is why I recommend putting it in a bucket... other wise you put it to sleep and brain it...

ThePBM, the clove oil is just to put the fish to sleep, that way they can't feel anything. they you simply take any method of killing.

so it should go like this:

put the fish in a plastic bag with enough clove oil to knock him out good. they add in a good amount of rubbing alcohol to kill him. he won't feel a thing, but just go to sleep and never wake up.

Clove oil can be used to knock them out, or to kill them. It depends on the dosage. Finquel works in much the same way.
