I think the only bad thing about keeping fish for others to enjoy is that you are the one that has to care for and keep these fish. You should keep fish that you enjoy even if they are cichlids commonly found in stores. Having a show tank of incredible fish is only really incredible if you can stand looking at them every day.
+1 i dont care though if someone hates on my tank:D

I don't hate my tank,I am just trying to expand my interest in cichlids if possible, with out having the small ones getting killed in the near future.I have seen a horror video of a 5 inch firemouth getting killed by a full grown GT,so its one of those things I like to avoid if possible.Even though it is part of nature.

im sry but there cool as hell and how is a 6" fish small? not to me it isnt

Well clearly he wants something uncommon and big so that people can admire it. $1.25 Petsmart Firemouths/Convicts aren't exactly that. Yes they are cool... as feeders. lol.. just kidding. Not exactly the fish I'd choose for a 125 gal tank, but to each their own.

thank you,I can see them being good for having pairs, but I don't have that at all.The cichlid I did spot and I am willing to get is the vieja argentea.Found one that is 3 inches.

Of that list I would keep just Oscars, GTs or Texas. I stopped with cichlids for now though, I think Datnoids are the real way to go.

For some reason Datnoids never came to mind of owning. What are they like though? What do you have to feed them?
