Illegal fish questions

When I was a kid there was a Jewish family that lived behind us, a fairly wealthy couple, who asked me to keep all the carp that I caught (in the Detroit River circa 1970 - yuck) and they ate them with great pleasure.
they area traditional Jewish delicacy. My mother has bought them in chinatown so she could make it like her grandmother used to. Its a very oily fish, but once ground and made into a loaf with onions carrots and bread crnumbs it tastes like a cake almost. It is called gefilte fish. You can buy it in a Jewish store, frozen and ready made.

Thanks for the info JH, just glad that I wasn't the one eating them. :)

I'm worried once snakeheads show up it's all over the Aussie natives. Australia has nothing to compete with them. Don't get me wrong I'm not a greenie :p

Really? I was under the impression that Australia was basically a minefield of fauna, full of creatures that would eviscerate you just for fun.

Out of the water yes but that's just spiders and snakes, in freshwater no. I'm not even sure if any freshwater species in Australia have a decent set of teeth on them. Africa would be more dangerous spiders, snakes and mammals that can kill (that includes humans lol)

And fish :p

True ;). I wonder who would win if a decent sized pike went up against a snakehead or a goliath tiger fish vs a snakehead. I don't want to see it just wondering

Tigers are mean things. But there are huge varieties of all mentioned above too, scary stuff

If I am not wrong, most variants of snakehead hunt in packs so you can imagine a pack of hyenas vs a lion and you have your answer
