What kind of fish is it and what makes it illegal in that state is it endangered or what?

Fish are either endangered or considered a possible threat to the eco system get banned. And once they're banned, they may stay banned for a very long time as it is easy to prohibit a species, but showing that they are "okay to have" isn't on the government's top priority list.

Lots of people, even people that post here, have made money on illegal fish.......Asian arros being the biggest money maker.

And if you get caught seliing an illegal fish, to society, it's not like you were selling drugs, it's just a fish.

i love it when some LFS write on the tanks "Babysitting for Client" or "Under Quarantine"... but when you ask them.. its actually for sale!

For those who suggest money is the motive…

Do you really think that illegal fish are cheaper/easier to acquire than legal fish?

In this thread the Original Poster asked about illegal fish being mislabeled and sold as legal fish…

It just doesn’t make sense to me that someone would pay the higher price of a hard to acquire illegal fish and sell it for the lower price of a legal fish… all in the name of profit?

I’ve never seen a pet store sell an illegal fish mislabeled as a legal fish… the few times I’ve known of places I could acquire illegal fish they were very expensive…

Everyone knows damn well if they saw an Asian aro @ a lfs at a good price labeled under mystry arowana they would be all over it. And your a liers if u say you wouldnt buy it or own one.

And if you agreed stop with your I am against illegal fish being sold cause u just contributed to buying an illegal fish if u fall in that category.

Ignorance of a law is not a valid defense. By turning the LFS in you will be in effect turning yourself in..

Mistake of law isn't a valid defense unless that mistake arose from a legal interpretation by an individual charged with making the law. Alternatively, mistake of law is a valid defense when the statute was valid at the time, but has since been voided.

Mistake of fact is a valid defense if that mistake is a reasonable good faith belief. If you are charged with possession, claim that you were mistaken as to the species- which is a credible claim if the LFS has their stock mislabeled.

The best thing to do here is to anonymously report the LFS. There is no need to say that you purchased anything from them, just that you noticed illegal species being sold there.

You shouldn't be so eager to assume everyone thinks the way you do...

I have no interest in owning an arrowana, Asian or otherwise. And I do not appreciate you calling me a liar...
