Illegal species to keep in Japan (if you're bored or curious enough to take a look)

Hi,keepers! I'm still new to this site and realized the folks in this site are too many steps ahead of us in Japan in every level, and I just wanna keep bowing my head to you guys :WHOA:. Well, since I don't have anything I can advice you, I thought it might be interesting to inform you which species are illegal to keep (and transfer alive) in this nation.

Here's the list of fish prohibited as pets:

Channel Catfish - Ictalurus punctatus
Largeouth Bass - Micropterus salmoides
Smallmouth Bass - Micropterus dolomieu
Bluegill - Lepomis macrochirus
Northern Pike - Esox lucius
Muskellunge - Esox masquinongy
Western Mosquitofish - Gambusia affinis
Chinese Perch - Siniperca chuatsi
Golden Chinese Perch - Siniperca scherzeri
Striped Bass - Morone saxatilis
White Bass - Morone chrysops
Zander - Sander lucioperca
European Perch - Perca fluviatilis

Penalty: Possession of these species without state permissions could result in fines of up to 3 million JPY.
I'll post the list for crustaceans, amphibians, and reptiles later.

I should move to the homeland... Fish and cars bee poor for days.
 
That's a very small list. You guys are quite lucky. Thanks for sharing.
 
I'd never be able to live there, wouldn't be keeping fish if it weren't for my North Americans which have gotten me through some tough times in the hobby.
 
Interesting,I had no idea Japan has such restrictions and someone on another thread was just saying how popular US natives are in some parts of Asia

apparently not THAT part haha. I'd be lost over there, like 5 of my favorites on that list!
 
No,apparently not....they can't even have Chinese Perch.
