So do I, I'd love to have a massive 20,000 gallon or so tank with one of every kind of asian arowana, red, gold, blue, green, etc. along with some silver arowanas and an arapaima and a ripsaw and redtail catfish and some temensis, it's all a dream thoughI want super red arowana.![]()
Don't say that, MAKE it reality! The worst thing someone can do is say "I cant, it'll never happen, it's impossible". Do you think the greatest inventors of our time said it's impossible and left it at that? No, they said it was possible and made it happen. Human thinking is what holds us back, don't hold yourself back bud. Shoot for the stars and smile as you end up going past those stars.
I thought that was your daughter lolYes. That is me. One of the few photos where I dont look geeked out, or weirder than usual, and I'm not covered in pond slime. Its ok if you think the fish is cuter. Just dont tell me ok lol
diy is your friendI'm battling that now. I'll find a way to keep koi one day! That's my dream fish for sure.
Koi is nothing, they don't need a heater or chiller, just go in your back yard or something dig a large hole and line it with plastic and you have a pond, just add a net over the top and you can make your own filter, just have a powerhead suck water into a filter that you can easily disguise with rocks, my one neighbor did that with her pond and she made it so that the output was a waterfall, you just have to worry about doing water changes (unless you have a bunch of plants and stuff in there to filter it naturally), that's a much more realistic expectation than a 1,000+ gallon tank for fish that need a heater (arowana, cichlids, stingrays, eels, gar, bass, etc.) and special food (Puffer fish)I'm battling that now. I'll find a way to keep koi one day! That's my dream fish for sure.
Agreed, my fish room used to contain very few heaters, I just kept a room heater on in winter, you can also keep fish that require cold water with a bunch of ice or cooler packsKoi aren't nothing, you try keeping a koi in perfect conditions. You can't control the temperature outside can you?
I just hate it with a burning passion when people say "X fish needs a heater/chiller" I can keep most fish that require a heater in room temp simply because of the temperature it naturally is along with the help of multiple tanks being in the same room and everything working giving off heat thus raising the temp a bit. Same thing with chillers, some places you could keep them without a chiller, you may even have to get a heater because of how cold it gets.
If someone knows what they're doing then a 1,000 gallon is very realistic. You can't just be idiotic and jump right in without any type of planning.
Special foods for puffer? Meh, you can easily make large amounts of snails for a puffer with very little space if you know what you're doing once again...
Fish keeping is rather easy if you know what you're doing. If you don't then you'll have a hard time because you're too stupid to plan ahead.
I'm actually now tempted to prove to you just how easy it would be to get a 1,000 gallon tank by simple budgeting and knowing what you're doing. I'll get back to you on that once I've done that research and have written up a rough draft of it.
