I was going to do the same thing. Have ichthyology as my main thing and be a herpetologist and welder on the side. Still gonna be a welder but mainly for myself.

I have a few friends who are doing welding, some underwater(extremely dangerous) and they seem to love it. The money is well too. I see I'm not the only one who likes reptiles and amphibians!
