I'm baaaack! 970 Gallon Pond Project

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ordered the Mag Drive 24! Should arrive tomorrow! Ive always hard plumbed my tanks but I'm thinking maybe ill do hoses this time.

New measurements on the pond... over the phone i was told it was 2.5' deep... in reality its 2' deep... so that puts me down to 750gallons... still not bad i suppose.

Traditionally I've used the first model, but I think ill go with the second as it will provide better water distribution over more media.

Update: pvc overflows and return plumbed. Waiting on heater and filter media.

I had made 3 1.5" overflows and this could not provide sufficient water to the mag 24... So I made a 2" pvc overflow and this one alone brought in more water than the others combined.

realllllllly interested in this project, looking to do something similar and looking forward to seeing how it turns out. Was planning on digging a hole to drop a stock tank into but want to keep it in my back yard and don't want the dogs getting into it so seaving it above ground might be the plan.

I have seen these over flows built before on here. How do you start them siphoning? and the paint fish safe? Again have seen them painted wanting to do something similar and just unsure. Your's is Looking great!!

Not to be rude, but may I ask why you are putting ball valves in the overflow plumbing?

he has it labled saying its to control the flow....I guess when you start turning the valve towards off it makes the opening smaller and smaller changing the flow.
