Maybe consider a continuous water change set-up.
 
Not doing it wrong but when you take half their water and confine them to one side of a tank while your cleaning they get a little stressed. I just don't
Think 50% water changes every 2 days is needed IMO.

I like doin water changes and love the results of cleaner/ cleaner water and happier/ healthier fish, but ive had to use like 10 gal buckets until i get a hose system setup, and believe me that gets old after a month

That's where I was at. I would only do a 50% once a week because it was 5 gallon buckets and it got old fast with 60 gallons.

Then I made my own version of a python and now I barely lift a finger. Takes 17 minutes and my fish are growing like crazy. I've gotten 0.5-1" growth on my clown loaches in two months which is crazy if you know how slow loaches grow.

Yeah I have to do a 220 with a 5 gallon bucket. Main reason I'm not a fan.
