Thank you. Luckily though, my media has survived the trip as well. a week without a water change, and have no ammonia or nitrite, and nitrate is extremely low.

i moved mine across canada from the east to the west in 4 days keeping all my livestock alive i had 2 tanks a 55 g and a 130g i put everything compatible in one rubbermaid container with heat and air no light but i did check on them consantly everyhour for the first 10 hours of the journey i had to do temperature adjustments (turned up the heat to keep it normal for them) fed them well for 2 days prior to the journey i had 2 plecoes 2 ebjd 2 oscars (juvies) 2 black convicts 2 jd 2 green terror and 2 dino bichers i fed them once 2 days in thats it i kept there rocks in with them and secred a few hiding places for them within the rocks(i had 2 pcs of ship lrg) i put my 6 foot aqurium in the van as well as a 36*21*18rubbermaid plus the stand all in my minivan an it worked well for me if you have any questions you can e-mail me @ scott_emberly29@hotmail.com i will help as much as i can

When I get out of the army in a year and a half, I'm going to be moving across the country. My plan is to buy a bigass cooler to transport my 3-4 most valuable fish. I will drill the lid of the cooler and plumb my FX5 into it with bulkheads and to have a big air pump to keep the water oxygenated. I'm also going to see about getting some sedative that the big companies use to ship fish to help keep them from stressing. I love my fish and have a LOT of money into them so I'm willing to ruin a cooler to make sure they survive. :)

Is a FX five a good idea though? Chances are, even a huge cooler is going to only hold 10 to 15 gallons of water, and the turnover rate would be massive with that filter. Also it may be difficult to power it.

An FX5 will literally blow the top off of the cooler. I put one in a 35 gallon drum one time just to prove it worked, water went everywhere and the tub about flew off the car trailer I had it setting on. If anything get a battery air pack and a corner filter like they use for fry. If it were me I would sedate with bag buddies, restrict food 24 hrs prior to, and up to 5 days during transport. But that's just me.

I found a unit in the bait section at Bass Pro that is designed just for large coolers! It was only $42
