Im getting ready to move my fish 1700 miles to Portland. Any tips?

I forgot to mentioned, I put my filter media in buckets, and left food in it to rot so the bacteria could still get yummies. As long as some of the bacteria lives, it wont take long for my filter to be at full force again.

I think it would have been easier and more reliable just to grab a bottle of cycle, but that's just me. Any how I am glad the fish are safe.

Congrats on the long move. Glad it went so Well. I still am in shock that mine went so good many years ago. But fish are tough.

are you suggesting its easier to kill off your bacteria and start over, rather than just keep what you have going alive?

I haven't either. So I always have an excess amount of filter material in case I need to start a new tank.

Why chance it, bring what media you can. I have used Stability to cycle many tanks and am partially doing it now on my 250 ray tank to catch it up to the new bioload. There are many of us in the area who would likely loan a few cycled sponges to you when you get here, myself included. I've done that for a lot of members and always keep cycled sponges in my sump for that very reason (and QT tanks)
