Good luck on your journey! I am kind of biased and know very little about Kansas other than what I learned from The Wizard of Oz, but I have a feeling that Portland will be a step up for you...
Another day went by without any losses. Currently in a crappy hotel in rock springs, wyoming. This place doesn't even have AC! Anyways, im going to be in portland on Tuesday, but I don't get my apartment until friday. Does anyone know if any pet stores/MFKers could babysit my fish in an actual tank until friday? Would be nice to get em out of the coolers.
I've made it to pendleton oregon to stay the night. Not much further to go now. So far, everyone is alive. In concerned about my EBJD though. The lines in its side fins are red now.
Dude, you're a brave soul. That's a long trip for fish! I hope it turns out well! If you're in pendelton you just drove past my grandpa's farm in la Grande! I'm jealous! I'm from Portland, you'll love it there.

La grande looked nice. Anyways, im at my hotel in beaverton, just a couple miles away from my new apartment. I can't get into my apartment until friday, so the fish get to live in coolers for a few days. Hopefully they will be fine with no heater. I did a water change, and am slowly filling the coolers to 3/4 full. Im wondering if I should feed them a little, as they haven't eaten since Tuesday.
Birds arrived safely too. The macaw is happy to be out of the carrier and on his playstand. The two females (mom and baby) are happy in their super large carrier cage. The male is unhappy in his tiny carrier. I would let him in the bigger cage, but he keeps attacking his daughter.
If you feel you absolutely must feed them do so right before you plan to do a water change so that the opportunity isn't provided for spikes. Adding a tiny pinch of garlic to the water will help lower stress levels and prevent infections if you don't have bag buddies available. It doesn't make the water smell pretty though.
