Mine was store bought but we had a outbreak of snails and he got that size in about a year eating them all. what size tank did you have them all in? mine was in a 50 and seemed happy.
I've been looking at tanks that are for a growing arowana and im seeing that 65 will be OK for awhile but not for life. Dose that sound about right?
Do you know how to read? i said its short term. Im not gonna keep it in there for ever just long enough to find a better tank and a fish stores no better they'll put it in a 30 at the most. You should give it to a fish store. Apparently you don't like the advice they have given you so what else is there to say? They told you a 65 gallon would not be acceptable AT ALL. Give it to someone who will properly take care of it!
The 65 is NOT permanent.Kept silvers in a 75g when they're around 3-7" fun to watch swimming around in there. Had a lot of floating plants too give it a nice cozy environment. Then traded that one cause it was getting big for the 75 for 2x 3" Arowana. Oh man totally off topic but 60g won't be able to house an adult specimen. Imagine yourself in a porter potty for the rest of your life.

It will just be long enough to get a better tank set up.
Go look around the site at pictures of adults and note tank sizes they're in. You'll see that they couldn't possibly live healthy in a 65g long term. In fact there are plenty of pics also of rescued arowanas that have bent backs from being kept in too small a tank during growth.
