I'm new, been keeping fish all my life, finally keeping monsters

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So it is a hybrid. I asked the former owner, he had no clue. I suspected so, it doesn't have the markings of many and his head isn't as flat as most tsn's

yup... the markings/spots... a bit darker brown base color and that head favoring the marble/achara side help identify these guys. easier to aquire these days but a great cat to own imo, gotta love the huge wiskers... stays a bit smaller than most "monster" cats also topping out around 30"

Update! Bought a new 5'x3' kitchen mat today. Picked some new boulders out of the yard along with a 24"x24" paver.
Chad, my middle child. Helped me do a thorough vacuuming and place everything. We also measured the largest rtc.

Update! Added to the "mountain". Made a spot for pothos. The additional foam helps keep the waterfall noise down.
On another note, my arowana is 10" and in the 125g growing fast. I have to build my netting around the pond soon. Also acquired a RTCxTSN and peacock bass today. I'll get pictures soon.

How man US kids gets to say they swam with pacus and rtcs?

Good to see the updates

Picture of the new RTCXTSN, it's hard to get one of the new peacock bass. I hung our conure Skittles cage. We let her spend time down there. She actually digs the fish.

Any updates? Curious to see that TSNxMarble you have. The misses wants me to get a TSN but we are not ready for a 4'+ monster just yet.

I've been meaning to catch him soon and measure. When I got him he was 14". He's one of the only fish I've noticed significant growth.
Maybe I'll jump in there this weekend. Here's a current pic.

I finally change out that annoying 14000k bulb for a 10000k MH. The clarity is awesome. I also ordered a gallon of K3 for my custom filter. Hopefully that will help reduce water changes in the next few weeks. Still doing 50 gallons every other day and 300 on the weekends.
