I'm pretty sure the next convention will be in Central USA. Any club can put in a bid for the convention. Quite honestly we have had somewhat of a difficult time getting bids. It's a lot of work for the host club. LA would be the bomb. Make it happen.

Well, you're 600 miles from DC, it's 2800 miles from here.

Seriously if I were 6 hours from DC it would be a no brainer. That is easy compared to traveling from Colotado. Last year I decided I wanted to have the driving experience and drove from Denver the Milwaukee and totally hated it. The Drive was a real killer, at least for me anyway. Never again. Flying from now on and lets be real it can be costly.

+1 for LA

I think LA would be a big hit I went to MFK meet before at Johnptc's place and there was alot of people there. If you noticed over 50% of the people that sell fish in the Buy/sell section are from Cali.

I have had enough of the lame excuses. I am waking up at 4 am on my anniversary to leave my at the time 8 months pregnant wife to head to this event. For the rest of my life I will have to justify missing my anniversary weekend or day with my wife to head to this event. It is a terrific time and I look forward to it every year. This will be my third one, as soon as I learned about them I started going and it has been a blast. I would have gone to the first one a month after I learned about them having the conventions, but I was on my honeymoon. Had it not been booked in advance I would have adjusted. You really do not know what you are missing until you have gone to a full event. One day is not enough, you have to stay overnight and learn about what really happens.

Needed to add,

I have spent every free second I have working on my masters classes so that I can finish my program early not to miss leaving on time for this event. I even stayed off the site for 6 weeks so I could get it done. This event is totally worth it.

Congrats on your progress with your Masters. However, as the years go by your wife will most likely not be so understanding about you leaving her for your Anniversary. Unless you work in taking her and incorporating an Anniversary side trip to go along with it. Congrats on your future little one too, but this will add weight to you not going in the future. My wife of 9yrs and I have 4. I am glad mine doesn't land around this time frame. I wouldn't have chance. :nilly:

We are about 10 hours from DC, still quite a bit of difference I guess. LOL

I would love to attend, but it is way too far...

I live in NW Oregon and would probably travel as far as SF (12 hours) or Seattle (5 hours), but Portland (1 hour) would be awesome. Like Clockwork said, Portland has a huge Cichlid wholesaler, cheap hotels, and a really nice international airport. It also has some of the nicest summer-time weather in the country, beautiful scenery, and more breweries per capita than any other city on Earth...

Sounds like it's time for the Portland club to put in a bid to host the ACA.
