State of chaos
I just had a huge fish loss, probably the loss that upset me 2nd worse, behind when my old Bichir died. My 4" Flash Pleco, L-104, died today, I found him in a driftwood cave all washed out and very dead. Worst part is, he was such a cool fish to show off to people, he was diurnal and swam around during the day since the day I got him. I have no idea when I can get another one, as the only place I know of that sells them is like 2 hours away. Good bye ]v[0NSTER Pleco, good bye rarest fish I own, and good bye 25 bucks. And I feel even guiltier since Flashes are wild caught:irked:
The only thing I can think of as a cause of death is that the temp in the tank is way up since some of my Yoyo Loaches had ich... I didn't see any ich on him, and I raised my internals so there is a LOT of water movement to compensate for low dissolved oxygen levels... ah I'm pissed:irked::irked::irked:

Sucks to hear.

Sad, man. Sorry for your loss. I've lost a cool critter or two during treatment spats myself. It's never easy, but don't be too hard on yourself. It's not like you cam set up an individual tank for every single fish you own.

bummmeeerr

im trying to save a little parasite infected dat right now things are looking bright for him though

sorry to hear about your loss

On a serious note. Sorry for your loss.

Why did you feel the need to let us know? What are we supposed to say in a thread like this?

However on a realists' note, We all know that fish die!......... all the time.
They shouldn't, but they do & so do people.
I don't beat myself up when fish die, because there are wars with real people dying everyday. It doesn't warrant that level of disappointment for me. When was the last time you shed a 1/2 a tear for a combat soldier not coming home? Or watching your local news. Were desensitized to that daily madness but god forbid a fish dies. MFK will be graced with yet another obitu-thread.
We all keep fish and feel you being pissed off. it's understandable.

Wow this just brought me back 20+ yrs.
My Grandfather (On my dads side, whom I met once and was scared to meet him when I did) had passed away the same week my parakeet Spice died. I recall crying like a B:cry:, for this stupid bird. Then my father smacked some sense into me and said I'll b damned if your crying for a bird but not his father.
I felt like crap, He was right. Although you may hold your pets with high esteem, they are not as important as human life. But, just try to tell that to PETA.:screwy:
Perhaps that is the direct correlation as to why I call dead fish Losers or the amount they cost (like "damn, $25 dollars died today") and they get disposed of like trash.
My mom would say "I used to complain about my feet hurting till I met a man with no legs." or
Don't cry over spilled milk.....Get a mop and mop it up!

This (My) post was sort of like the slap received from my father years ago.
Hopefully your are not offended and can  at it, for what it's worth.

Well, lots of people on MFK make threads when one of their favorite fish die... it's not like I'm the only person ever to do it... in fact, I believe it's quite common...

Everyone else, thank you for your condolences.

swordtales >> Its obvious that u cared more for your pet then your grandfather. Its just natural that you care more for something close to you be it human or pet.
