I'm sorry but...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
thanks all of you, i will try a 2" bulkhead and see how much that pushes out than if i need more i will drill another 1.

I have some very valuable info. When people see tons of threads on the same tank, let alone the same topic, they will skip it and move on.

That said, I agree with going overkill on overflows. If I had a 600 gal tank I would use 4 1.5" overflows. I use 2 1.5" overflows on my 300.

Yes, I totally agree. The flow into the filter is totally dependent on the flow out from the pump. I guess the only way to test this is to get two trashcans. Fill one up with water and put the pump in it. Run the pump into the other trash can and drill a hole in it. Turn the pump on and put a hose in the trashcan with the pump in it. When the pump starts pumping turn the hose on so that it is always full. As the pump fills up the other trash can, it will hit the over flow whole and start to pour out. If the whole you drilled empties it out before the water gets above the whole, then you are good. If the water level gets above the hole level, drill a bigger hole until it pours out. There is also prolly a physics equation that you can use, but I my way is easier.

not to argue,just to say,
my 1" bulk with 90 degree elbow and strainer can barely keep up with a 250gph pump.
unless your bulks on the bottom,i would guess most people use bulks on the back with an elbow.
so on that note,im guessing a bulkhead on the back of the tank with a 90 elbow cuts off about 2/3 of the flow?
correct me if im way off track :D
so maybe add that in while doing your math?

Read the whole response. I stated the rate was through the bulkhead fitting only (without plumbing).

The 1" is the clear useable I.D. of the fitting. Not the O.D. or hole drilled to fit the bulkhead.

... i wish i could find a bin that holds 100gallons lol.. instead i gota get a 100gallon tank.

What dimensions do you need? I might be able to help you out.

umm, any size i guess, i have 3 acrylic sheets and 4 glass sheets im gona custom make (media area) depending on the size of my 100gallon. why? am i gona be looking at another email soon of your godly cheap 100gallon tub lol.:grinno:

yep, and they are plenty ugly. So ya gotta be able to hide it if you want one. I also tank tested some pumps. I have one that flows 2700gph. I also have several that flow 2600gpM :D

Boy that would be interesting to see a 6" arowana swimming in a tank that has a pump pushing ~156,000 gph. Haha, that poor fish wouldn't be able to tell which way was up, or for that matter which color was blue.

did you read all of my response? :D

dont think many people will use a bulk without plumbing,so on that note,my idea might be helpful to figure things out? lol :D

LMAO PM!?? wow.

email me some pics of the ugly tub and is the pump for sale also?
