hey i may be young and all but ear me out. i work in a pretty depressed area and in lke most i see lot of things being taken advantage of. i go to college full time, im in a pretty serious relationship, and i work full time. at my job i had to pass a drug test to get hired in order to make my money to support myself and help my family and girlfriend out. but i go to the store. and every time i go there i see someone using food stamps(now benefit card). which i have no problem with and at one point in my life my family had to do the same. but i see these same people constantly using both this and drugs one of the biggest things plagueing my area and it bugs me alot. i have to pass a drug test to make the money i need yet these people can use drugs(not that i partake) not work and get handed a paycheck anyway. i have absolutely no problem with people being prescribed drugs or people who dont abuse the system but those who do just burn me up and unfortunately that is the vast majority...... sorry once again just venting

Welfare and benefit cards or whatever enable those who are lazy to continue being lazy and sucking on society like leaches.
well i wouldn't say all that but it is abused very much. but when it is used properly it is a very good thing

i think you young folks need to take a step back..
i was 18 when i had my first child, unwed, NO help from my family. Me and my boys (3 before i was 25) were on AFDC and food stamps and medi-cal for 10 years. when my youngest son started school, so did i.
i've been working fulltime and supporting my family for 20 years, ALONE. with NO help from my family, my son's fathers or our government. but if it hadn't been for AFDC when me and my children were young we wouldn't be here today.
all i can say is "walk a mile in their shoes before you judge".. never know.. might be you that needs the handout next.
