You're missing the point. You're mainly focusing on the animal kingdom What about all of the issues involving mankind? Besides, you're an atheist. How can a true atheist use the bible as a source to make his point?

Not to start a religious convo here but I don't believe Being religious or even Christian is a requirement to reading and thus interpreting the bible or any other religious text

Kinda like the Butterfly Affect. Where something you do affects someone out there tremendously.

Why does everything have to have a reason? Why can't things just happen?

I just believe the 2012 thing might happen because people look to much into it(mostly religious fanatics) then they really feel the end of the world will happen and start throwing nukes... But I think most of our problems come from global warming and people not respecting the environment.

The "end times" will most likely come from a self fulfilled prophecy. After all, people who believe the end is near will not bother taking care of this planet.

My brother runs the St Eve's Gnostic Church here in PA- I attended a few sessions.. not for me, but he did mention that there are some adoptable things of Zen buddhism involved in it.. but I didn't find any correlation.
