I just cannot imagine this little fishy braking a 1000g. Did you witness it?

Post a pic of the tank! Someone will figure out what to do with it. Seems excessive to buy a new one. And if the shark brakes it again?

There are 47 recorded fatal attacks on humans by nurse sharks (Ginglymostoma cirratum)since 1580, 10 were recorded as unprovoked. There have also been many nonfatal bites as well, almost all have been by small nurse sharks that were to closely approached (often touched) by swimmers. This does not mean they are aggressive but they can and do bite.
Spiny dogfish sharks are also recorded in several nonfatal bites, many unprovoked, these almost always occured in shallow muddy water when food fish were present, as soon as the shark realised what it had bitten was to big to eat they darted away, oops.

im surprised no one has asked this but, wat are the dimensions of the 1000 gal? just curious.

the tank is actually a 10 foot diameter by 2 foot tall circle that is built into our house we call it the "fish room" will get pics soon i think thats a little bit over 1000 gallon but close enough

Hope he doesn't try it again.

I used an 8in PVC pipe 5ft long to keep one in for transport (during boat trip back in(3hrs) )by flowing large amounts of water thru it with a modified bilge pump.

Please do take pix of tank, would love to see it.

That's actually about 1175 gallons, and a great shape for this shark. Since they are not very active sharks, and usually just slow cruise at night looking for food, the round tank with no corners allows him to essentially swim forever without having to make a sharp turn. Nice, please get us some pics. That would be a great tank for my RTC also. Are you sure you don't want to convert it to freshwater and put my RTC in there...:naughty: ...jk of course

well i just found out we are moving, his tank that we were talking about in the thread will not be fixed and as far as what we will do with it will be decided however as you all seen in my last thread he is very healthy i will start out at 150 obo, very negotiable need gone by sunday, can ship or local pickup can be arranged

I am sorry you have to give up such a gorgeous fish, but if it can break a 1000 gal tank @ 3 feet....... "TANK BUSTERS" for a reason. I am sure the strength of the shark wasn't the only factor though. Round tanks are structurally weaker, plus with the added forces of the vol of water, and the sudden impact....... If I only had a 5000 gallon cement pond.......

I think you are doing the best that you can for him. What choice did you let him die? Keep the water clean (like your'e doing) and pray for the best.
