There are 47 recorded fatal attacks on humans by nurse sharks (Ginglymostoma cirratum)since 1580, 10 were recorded as unprovoked. There have also been many nonfatal bites as well, almost all have been by small nurse sharks that were to closely approached (often touched) by swimmers. This does not mean they are aggressive but they can and do bite.
Spiny dogfish sharks are also recorded in several nonfatal bites, many unprovoked, these almost always occured in shallow muddy water when food fish were present, as soon as the shark realised what it had bitten was to big to eat they darted away, oops.
