Jardini's are smaller arows. but also from what I've been told one of the nastiest ones. I'de pop your question over in the arrowana board. and 220gal seems to be the general conscensus for min arowana size tank. Not sure on availability ect but if he likes arrowana type fish might look at some of the gars instead or even a school of needlenose instead. I could be wrong so I'de check over in those sections for sure.

lol i was just wondering if a needle nose gar would be a good tankmate for a fire eel, i love gars but would it get on with fire eel?, also i might ask him if he would like one but he saw a red tail aro about 2 foot in a display tank with two fully grown O's and i have two admit that they look stunning together:WHOA: anyway so would that get on with a fire eel or what size is the smallest true gar?

Already some good info here but they do get Big i have one around 22" at the moment in a 6x2x2 with a few other fish including a marble motoro ray and a 10" Lates calcarifer. They do make good pets but need large tanks. They can be picky over foods as mine still only really eats a little bit of earthworm and bloodworm even though ive had him for a few weeks,

thanks bruce and yeah i know they get to 3 foot but im not buying him/her until my dads 100 is cycled and his fish are out of the tank, just came there the now :D but im just gonna have to wait a couple of weeks but hes gonna take some sponges/media carriers out of the 65's fluval 305 and put them in the new fluval fx5 so it should be cycled quicker, btw monsterminis i asked my dad on the phone and he doesnt want a gar i reckon hes sticking to buying an aro but not for a while

atm I keep a needlenose fish (technically they are a carnivorous tetra, that looks like a miniature gar) an Oscar, and 3 fire eels, along with a royal pleco in a 40 breeder as a grow out. And have had few to no issues with the mix. Other then The O went from 3" to 6" is about 2 monthes >.< and was the newest fish added to grow out.. and will be the first to need a bigger tank. It is very crowded and overstocked for adult sizes. and even as juvies I'm doing 25% WCs 2x a week + run a emperor 400 and a magnum hot on the tank as well.

and wait until he/she settles in bruce =) I go threw about 2 doz earthworms a week between my 3. and they are pushing 14-16" each.

i dunno my dad keeps saying "it'll just take lump's out of your eel" and i do think about it, also would a baby fire eel jusy hide all the time? and if it can would it swim in the canister filter's inlet and if it does will it get out or would it just die cos im not spending like £17-ish for a baby eel just for it too die, and just for the hell of it do freshwater moray's need brackish cos i might get one for the 20(at about 5") what size/diet/reqiurement's of these oddball's

i may just keep it as a species tank btw i seen a pic of a fish and i finally found out what this random fish fish is, it's a Payara(Vampire Tetra) and i have just been convincing myself that i can have one in a year but it's not going in with the eel but... I WANT A RED TAIL PAYARA google image it they're true monster fish at a foot long in captivity. so screw pirhana lovers this thing would pwn them to extinction !!!:hitting:

get a fire eel that bigger then the Vampire Tetra. And they will go in your filter and i will die if it keep going in there.

i kinda figured that it will die in the rotor and the payara will be in a seperate tank unless my eels like 1 1/2 foot and the tetra is 2"-3" hmm... ive never heard of a fire eel eating a top dwelling fish will it eat it? and my mum loves that dyed parrot that she bought will it eat him if so then ill buy one :grinno:

as long as nothing is bigger than the eel and the eel is not to big to eat anthing that is to small u should be fine.
